4 Runners Away from Holme

A quiet racing week saw just four runners in action, all heading over to Yorkshire to take part in the Holme Moss Fell Race. The race which involved 4000ft of climb over 17 miles was a counter in this years English Championships so attracted some of the country's finest fell runners. In wet and windy conditions Dominic Raby was once again able to add to his points total putting in a good effort to take 44th place in 2.52.27. Lynne Clough was next home and had a great run in 3.17.28. Lynne's performance left her in 10th position overall in this years ladies championships and within touching distance of the bronze for the Ladies Vet 40 prize with just once race to go. Gary Platt continues to enjoy his adventures in the hills and was pleased with 3.37.43 and just managed to hold off Paul Jackson in 3.40.24.

This Sunday (01/08/2010) sees Malc Christie and Adam Critchley take part in the Bolton Ironman Triathlon, starting with a 2.4 mile open water swim followed by a 112 mile bike ride with a full marathon to finish. The swim takes place at Pennington Flash before the bike ride takes in a number of roads around the district before the run goes through Horwich and Bolton.
