DON’T RUN ALONE – LONDON MARATHON

By now applicants for the London Marathon would have received confirmation that they have a place for Sunday 25 th April 2010. For many it maybe their first marathon and can be quite daunting; it seemed like a good idea at the time. Chorley Harriers have arranged a “Beginners Night” for anyone who is new to running or wants to return. The Harriers meet every Thursday evening at Chorley Cricket Club off Southport Road at 7.15pm. Everyone is welcome to come along and they will be encouraged to enjoy their running. With the cold winter nights ahead, training alone can be depressing as well as dangerous. By going along to Chorley Harriers they will meet like-minded people and by making that commitment will no doubt find other people to run with throughout the week.

In preparation for a marathon there is no substitute for “time on the feet”. However this has to be built up over time and too much too soon can bring on injury. Chorley Harriers have experienced runners and coaches that can guide and advise on the best approach. For further information ring Martin Harrington 01257 412759. Martin is a level 2 coach and has completed over forty marathons. Website www.chorleyharriers.co.uk
